80 monopiles installed, lowest sound levels measured

24.07.2014

BU_INS_MP_SvanenOn 22th of July in the morning the last of totally 80 foundation piles was driven into the seabed by the hydraulic hammer. The application of two independently operating noise mitigation systems reduced the sound waves successfully below the legally required decibel levels, resulting in the lowest sound levels measured during offshore wind construction in the German North Sea so far.

The heavy lift vessel Svanen, operated by Dutch foundation contractor Ballast Nedam installed the 600 to 800 tons heavy steel pipes in just 113 days.
